How to Fix Your DAC Report
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
If you are a truck driver, then you know your DAC Report is as important to you as a credit report is to a consumer. For those that don’t know- it is the trucking industry’s standard reporting system to warn prospective employers about a truck driver’s past employment record. Those of us that do know all about it know that there is a lot of abuse by some trucking companies, and just like a credit report, drivers have to be aware of complaints, and fix mistakes.
Just like a credit report, you have the right to give your side of the story, and erase bad information. By law, you have the right to know what is happening on your record. And HireRight, who administers the report is required by law to respond accordingly.
You can get your DAC Report free, as long as you haven’t gotten one in the past year.
If you have a DAC issue and would like to resolve it, start by requesting a copy of your DAC Report here. Then, if you see any discrepancies, go here and fix them.
If there is something on your DAC that you know you did wrong, you may have to wait a while for it to be removed. Depending on the issue, it could take two, three, or up to seven years. In some cases, it stays on your DAC for eternity.
But a lot depends on your side of the story. If you have a problem, you owe it to yourself to at least try to resolve it.
Almost every driver I know, myself included, has at some time in his life either had an issue with DAC, or should have (if you are like me and have been trucking since before DAC!) I could tell stories all day about drivers who couldn’t find a decent job because of a DAC Report problem. Big Brother is watching so you better watch out.
What about fake Dac Reports?
Of course, in this business you have all types, including scammers and back-stabbers that will make up a story about you because they are sore losers, or because you put them in their rightful place. Either way, you may one day have to fix a DAC Report discrepancy. So there you go.
If you’d like to comment, and name names, we are not afraid of that here at Big City Driver. Just scroll down and give us your two-cents. You will have to put an email address in there, but it will remain private.
You can sue these companies for falsifying information and slander
Same situation here, but with 2 companies. Swift and Schneider. Swift has my husband having a head on collision. It was a minor accident where the tail end of the trailer scraped the tail end a car back panel. Its the first thing an potential employer sees. No tickets, no injuries and vehicle was fine. Hes disputing this.. Schneider let him go exactly 1 year to the day he was hired. Claimed him for every little thing. A broken boot- called an accident on the DAC and this is a very common thing that happens and takes not to fix. When blind side parking the side hood scraped up against a steel bumper of a parked trailer, no vehicle attached. It was in a trailer yard, and they have it listed as hitting a parked vehicle on his DAC. and yet another, backing into a dock and a hanging tree limb knocked off the fin, easy fix, nothing more, and it is marked as hitting a stable object. The way these are listed is horrible for a truck driver. No courtesy of explaining further, just short one or two word descriptions. Also, DAC is showing he quit with Schneider and they let him go. Any suggestions? Because of this, cannot get hired on anywhere so far and cannot receive unemployment so far. We are going to fight it.
Werner Enterprises put 7 accident/Incident on my DAC report. I was involved in one incident of touching another trailer. They are lying about the rest.. I cant get another driving job because of them. I went through HireRight and I rebuttled the dispute.. Werner came back and added more stuff on there. What do I do now to fight this?
Thank you for all your support!
Sincerely, Unni Haugen

I’m going through the same thing with Werner enterprise funny how you bust your butt for a company but once their done with you they throw you out like trash things they put on my DAC report is only so know one else (companies) get a great hard working driver that is dedicated to their career not once do they think we having to make a living too while they go on about their day not caring if they ruined someone career or life people work hard to get to a level of success everyday but when it comes to big name companies they can tear you down in one day because they have the money, power, and hateful attitudes it’s one thing to fire you but another to mess up what you worked so hard for I feel as if they don’t like you cool but don’t mess up any chance for another company to hire you see how you work then decide their own judgment I’m trying so hard to overcome this obstacle but it’s so hard that I wanna give up but good luck to any driver going thru anything with these companies keep your head up try your best and keep going
This happened to my husband also. USA hired him only to use him and try to destroy him. I think drivers need to come together and ho to Congress or file a Federal Complaint to see what can be done about this matter.
I hear you.
I’m going thru the same with Stevens.
I have 5 things on my dac. Due to them wanting me to go back n work for them.backing, backing, right turn, hit stationary object, need a tow.
Then stevens had me go pick up a truck in buffalo NY. To Iowa .First day out alone. A guy said I backed into him and I suppose to damage only to shield on his light wit my trailer. No other damage scratches or nothing around the light. Then he Don’t make a claim.
I get to the shipper. The air cylinder split in half. Brakes go out and the trailer bump the dock hard. Trailer door. I called Stevens. They send a truck out. To fix the cylinder but backing on my dac.
No damage was done but a little paint rub on to the trailer skirt off the the yellow poles in the shipper lot. I saw I was about to mess up. Stopped, corrected myself then call company. Then went to talk to management on the property. They said it was fine no exchange on information nothings. I left.
New driver careful of the company you pick and don’t call them for every little thing. Cuz Now it is on my dac.
100% on time or early just Cuz they wanted me to stay at Stevens I have to file chapter 13. I can’t pay of these high % rate loans. Truck companies know this and will not take this stuff off.
Those of you that are fortunate to get money saved. Get yo own truck and broker. I got a .20% school loan I can’t pay back after a year of driving.
The only thing I am guilty of is parking in a gravel lot wit other trucks Cuz my ten needed to be taken and I got snowed in and needed a tow is the only thing they spent money on. The other stuff just words on my dac.
I’m praying for you all.
If anyone has a solution for this madness it’s God!
Stay blessed…..
